David joins Virginia Tech as the Alumni and Outreach Coordinator for the Apex Systems Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Apex CIE). Prior to joining Apex CIE, David worked as the Young Life Capernaum Director for the Salem/Roanoke Valley, creating multiple programs for students with special needs and disabilities at almost 20 high/middle schools. He also served as the Youth Director, Special Needs Coordinator, and Accountant for Westminster Presbyterian Church. Most recently, he spent this past summer and fall working for Mavuno, an international development non-profit that works to provide community and business development solutions to the extreme poor in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. During that time, he got to experience the St. Louis Startup Ecosystem while working in the CIC Co-Lab and Venture Café.
The excitement of the Center’s exponential growth drew David back to Virginia Tech and he hopes to be a key cog in improving, sustaining, and creating outstanding programs. These programs will provide students and alumni with the resources and toolkit needed to spur innovation solutions to the world’s most complex problems. He will provide project management skills and logistical support on over of dozen programs Apex CIE is currently offering. He has a passion for grassroots entrepreneurial development, creating a vibrant ecosystem of VT students past and present through meaningful mentorship and relationships.
